Story

Alfasoix will tell you they grew up in the Brume, one of many forgotten children scraping by in the shadows of Ishgard’s great pillars. That they were never anyone special—just small enough to slip through crowds and quiet enough to overhear things they shouldn’t have.Some in the Brume might remember a sharp-eyed street rat who always seemed to know when to disappear. They might recall a courier, never caught, who ran messages for merchants, low-ranking knights, and anyone else who could pay. Ask around long enough, and you’ll hear half a dozen variations of the same story: Alfasoix had a talent for hearing things, for knowing things, for slipping between the cracks.And like every clever rat, they were good at covering up their tracks. A lot of that past is still hazy and muddled, almost purposely. Alfasoix, for their part, never denies anything outright. They’ll only offer a small smile, a shrug, and remind you that truth and memory are fickle things in a city built on secrets.In the past few years, they’ve moved from place to place, always on the fringes of Ishgardian society.

Preferring to stay in the shadows than in the spotlight, Alfasoix is nevertheless a fixture of the Brume- just one you're less likely to notice. As such, the Elezen knows quite a bit about everything that goes on in the lower levels of Ishgard and even more about the things that are allegedly not going on.

I fought the law

Alfasoix and the various structures of authority in Ishgard famously do not get along. The guards might tend to see them as a nuisance who'd be keen to stick their nose into other people's business if it was to do with the lowborn. Those in higher positions of power though have a less favorable view of them and speak of them as more dangerous than mischievous.

Should anyone think to speak to Alfasoix on matters of theology and scripture, it becomes quickly apparent that the street rat has an in-depth, almost encyclopaedic of the Halonic faith and its practice. Which seems odd because of how much contempt Alfasoix seems to have for the church.

Of House and Home

Some may dismiss it as coincidence that Alfasoix shares a name with the noble house Evrardeaux. At first glance, they bear little resemblance to its members until one notices the same striking amber eyes.A decade ago, when the house was of little consequence and name, Alfasoix was openly known as the child of its third heir. But with the man who would be their father now long gone, all ties between them and the house have been mysteriously severed. For what reason remains an unanswered question.

Once upon a time, a young Alfasoix was a promising student at Saint Endalim's Scholasticate. However, Alfasoix was expelled under circumstances rarely spoken of. Those who dig deep enough might find conflicting accounts—some say it was a grave mistake, others whisper of heresy or forbidden knowledge.Alfasoix never speaks of their ties to the Scholasticate, and no formal records of their enrollment exist in the Scholasticate’s archives. Yet, one clue continues to surface—the name of Shrouded Helm of Saint Daniffen, a sect of the church thought by most to be nothing more than a myth.
